some thoughts on facilitating conversations / workshops…

what makes design facilitation uniquely challenging?

spider diagramming to uncover some answers / insights:

• building trust quickly in a new group setting (outsider vs insider)

• not everyone is comfortable with creative collaboration

• grasping emergent ideas and themes requires keen sensitivity

• generating new thinking is messy and chaotic—another source of discomfort

• perhaps mostly importantly, facilitator must be very self-aware to be a/effective
